Heat Advisory!

"Get ready for some scorching temperatures this afternoon, especially in north Alabama. The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a heat advisory for northwest Alabama that will be in effect from noon until 7 p.m. Thursday. The weather service said high temperatures are expected to climb into the mid to upper 90s today. Those combined with high dew points will raise the heat index, or "feels like" temperature, to 105 degrees or higher.

The weather service said more heat advisories may be needed for a larger part of north Alabama on Friday. It will be toasty across the rest of Alabama as well today. Highs will reach into the 90s statewide, with limited chances for rain and storms. The weather service in Birmingham said highs across central Alabama will top out in the mid to upper 90s, with the heat index ranging from 99-105 degrees."
